Softball: Second Inning Powers Germantown Academy Over Baldwin

WYNNEWOOD -- A six-run second inning fueled Germantown Academy's softball team over Baldwin School on April 16, giving the Patriots their first Inter-Ac League win of the season, 7-5.

GA found themselves trailing 1-0 after the first inning, but scores from Alex Johnson '25, Jessica Aponik '24, Maggie Burkholder '25, Zoey Clark '26, Paige Sipler '27, and Ava Fiumara '26 gave the Patriots a lead they would not relinquish. Baldwin tacked on a pair of runs on an RBI single and a home run to make it 6-3 going into the top of the sixth inning, but Fiumara answered with a solo home run of her own to give GA a 7-3 advantage. In the bottom of the inning, the Bears picked up two more runs.

Liv Reynolds '25 drew the start in the circle and responded with a complete game, striking out seven batters.

The Patriots return to action on April 17 against the reigning Inter-Ac champions, Episcopal Academy.
